As our city celebrates the LGBTI community during Pride Madrid, we will bring you on a special journey through the vibrant gay history of one of the most gay-friendly cities in the world!
This 2.5-hour tour will take you through all the ups and downs of Madrid’s history. You will start from the very beginning with Greece, Rome and the dark ages. Things get a little gloomy with the hardships and torture during the inquisition and the Habsburg and Bourbon dynasty. But it does get better!
Learn about some of the great pioneers of the gay rights movement in Spain and discover the changes that came about in the 20s and 30s. We will visit the famous Chueca neighbourhood where the counterculture movement La Movida Madrileña started, and how it sculpted the new Spanish identity.
Come join us as we discover how this Catholic country approved gay marriage and what it took to make Madrid the loving, open city it is today.
