ABOUT THE Red Light District Tour

Discover one of the most famous neighborhoods in Europe with this 2-hour walking tour. Join an experienced guide who will steer you through the diverse life along the streets of the Red Light District and see what Amsterdam’s oldest and most controversial neighborhood has to offer. From coffeeshops to sex theaters and fetish stores, find out the realities and fictions of this storied district.

Your Amsterdam Red Light District Tour meets daily at the National Monument at Dam Square and finishes at Warmoesstraat, next to the Oude Kerk.

One of Europe's most famous neighborhoods

People come from far and wide to experience Amsterdam's Red Light District. From the locals who live there, to the prostitutes who work there, to the travelers who visit its coffee shops, its hard to think of an area of Europe that is so diverse. On this walking tour, you'll see sites like the Condomerie, the Old Church at the heart of the Red Light District, fetish stores and the Prostitute Information Center.

Take guidance from a local

Your expert local guide is not only knowledgable on the Red Light District itself, but is also well up to speed on the challenges that face the locals that live and work within it. As more and more people flock to Amsterdam, it becomes harder for prostitutes to work, local shops to sell, and residents to live in this iconic neighborhood. On this Red Light District walking tour, you won't just hear the stories and the history - you'll also get essential information on how to integrate with the locals and have a minimum impact on their way of life.

What is a Select Tour?

Select Tours focus on a particular area or district of a city, a certain aspect of its history or culture, or take you outside the city on a day trip. Select Tours are perfect for those who have enjoyed an introduction to the city and wish to delve deeper into the stories the city has to offer. These tours often venture further afield and make use of local public transport.

As with the Free Tour, Select Tours are provided by local freelance guides in partnership with SANDEMANs NEW Europe, who bring their personal flair and expert knowledge to these specifically themed tours. Select tours have a fixed ticket price - we recommend purchasing your ticket in advance, either during a Free Tour or online.
