Celebrate the female heroes that have shaped Prague's history!

ABOUT THE International Women’s Day Tour of Prague

From politicians to atheletes to opera singers, there is no doubt that women have transformed the Czech Republic into the country it is today. Join us as we explore some of the memorials, locations and statues around Prague that commemorate these great women.

International Women’s Day was a major event is Communist Czechoslovakia. Awards were given out by the state, women received gifts at work, and celebrations went late into the night.

Fastforward to the 21st Century Czech Republic, and the Communist links with International Women’s Day mean that for many, the day has been completely discredited. However, Czech history is full of inspirational women who left their mark on this great nation; enemies of the Communist state, seven-time Olympic gold medal gymnasts, and the brave women who played an important role in bringing about the Velvet Revolution of 1989.

This is their story. This International Women’s Day, we remember the incredible women who helped make the Czech Republic great.
