Answers to our general questions

Reserve or pop along

Reservations for the FREE and select tours are not strictly necessary, unless your group exceeds 10 people. However, on days with a particularly high demand, priority will be given to those with online bookings, and any remaining spaces will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you are wanting to have a private tour, reservations are a must.

Rain or shine, our tours will run

The FREE Tour and the select tours run year-round, in all weather, and also on public holidays.

Is there a maximum number of people allowed on a tour?

Theoretically, there is no maximum number of people allowed on the tours, as we will always try to ensure that we have as many freelance guides at the start point as necessary to accommodate all guests. However, on particularly busy days, it is possible that we may limit the number of places we offer to ensure that the group sizes remain manageable, safe and enjoyable. By booking online for the FREE Tour, not only will you help us with our capacity planning, but your online booking will ensure that you are given a space on the tour, provided you are there at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.  Groups of 10 or more are required to book at least 24 hours in advance to assist with this capacity planning.

What time do I need to show up for my tour?

Please try to arrive for your tour 10 – 15 minutes before the allotted start time. In doing so you ensure that the tour can leave on time and subsequently you get more time with your amazing guide. If you arrive late your place maybe given to another guest.

Do the FREE Tours include the entrance fees to the places of interest?

The FREE tour does not visit any places that require an entrance fee.

What is a Starbucks pick-up?

It is a service offered by our company to help those staying near the Hauptbahnhof to get to the tour starting point. A SANDEMANs NEW Munich employee meets customers at 10:00AM inside the Hauptbahnhof in front of Starbucks and escorts them to the tour start point at Marienplatz. A public transportation card is required to take part in this tour.

Two in a day?

Yes! In fact, you can do as many as three tours in a day, an example being the 11AM FREE Tour, followed by the Third Reich Tour and rounding out the day with the Beer Tasting.

Are the tours wheelchair accessible?

All the tours contain a few inclines and uneven terrain, and they last from 2.5 hours for the FREE Tour to all day for the Neuschwanstein Tour. Despite this, they are all manageable by wheelchair as long as one is accompanied by an able-bodied person. If you are planning to take the tour of the interior of the castle on the Neuschwanstein Tour, please let us know in advance so that we can inform the site that an alternative entrance will be required.

How long?

All the tours are about three hours long. With travel time, however, the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Tour is about five hours long, the Neuschwanstein Castle Tour is about eight hours long and the Beer Tasting is about four hours long.

Will it be hard or unsafe to get home from the Beer Tasting?

The Beer Tasting guides will give you detailed instructions on how to get back to certain parts of the city from the final Beer Tasting venue.

We are a group; do we need a special reservation?

We strongly recommend pre-booking tours for groups to avoid disappointment, as pre-bookings will always be given priority. We recommend groups of 10 or more book a private tour, as this will usually work out cheaper and you will have a more personalized experience.

If you would like to arrange a private tour, please e-mail us at [email protected] or call us on +49 (0)30 510 50030.
Note: If you are joining the Beer Challenge as a stag party, please contact us before pre-booking the tour.

Does the Beer Tasting meet at the same spot every night?

Yes, the meeting spot is always the same. Please see our Beer Tasting page for details.
