Though having lived in Ireland his whole life, it took going abroad for Cathal’s interest in the island and her history to spark. It was during a summer off from studying Economics in Trinity College that caused the change. He spent 3 months in Nice,France giving walking tours around the old town by day and guiding merry pub crawls by night. It was here he discovered his love for both history and stories of a place and also of meeting and interacting with people from all walks of life.
Cathal returned to Dublin with a new found passion for Dublin and all her history. With a special interest in Dublin’s stories and all her little known facts, his tours cover all bases. Priding himself on the quality of recommendations, be it dining, shopping or drinking can result in a lengthy conversation with Cathal. Thus giving rise to the phrase amongst his friends “Ask Cathal”.
Taking a tour with Cathal is a way to unlock the city the eyes of a local, with the perfect mix of history and stories to keep the tour both fun and entertaining. Be warned though — he is known to try and bring people to have the “craic” with him after the tour(read: pub)
